Clinical care for potential miscarriage

Our midwives & OBGYNs are specially trained to deliver care through early pregnancy complications and potential miscarriage in early pregnancy. We offer virtual counseling & in-person visits to support you through the emotional and physical challenges that come with early pregnancy complications and loss.

Emotional support & referral

Early pregnancy can be a time of uncertainty and ambivalence. Complications or pregnancy loss can cause overwhelming and mixed feelings of shame, disappointment, grief, and more. We’re here to meet you where you are and walk you through this vulnerable time, together, providing emotional support and referral for mental health counseling and resources.

Necessary follow-up care

Oula offers necessary follow-up care for miscarriage, so we can make sure that the miscarriage is complete, and that you are physically and mentally well after experiencing a miscarriage. We will make sure you have instructions on when and how to follow up with our 24/7 on call care team at every step along the way. If you have had two or more losses, our team is equipped to refer you to a fertility specialist.

Preconception Counseling after loss

Oula offers Preconception Counseling for people who have experienced loss. Everyone grieves in their own time and own way. And we are here if you want to discuss how to approach trying again after the physical and emotional challenges that accompany miscarriage and loss.

Who can Oula support through early pregnancy complications?

We are able to support those in their first trimester of pregnancy living in the New York Metro area. You do not have to be a current Oula patient to see us for early pregnancy complications or potential miscarriage. If you are beyond your first trimester, let us know, and we'll connect you with a specialist for the appropriate care.

What are the signs of early miscarriage and when should you call us?

Bleeding is the most common sign and symptom of early miscarriage. Sometimes you will have cramping too. Your pregnancy test will likely still be positive. If you did feel pregnant, you might not anymore. Sometimes you may have no symptoms, but find out during an ultrasound that the embryo or fetus is no longer growing.
