Amanda Segilia, LM, CNM
Amanda Segilia is a Certified Nurse Midwife with nearly two decades of experience as a midwife in New York and New Jersey.
Amanda is passionate about Oula’s mission to address the gaps and inequities in pregnancy care today. In her many years as a midwife, she has seen families both transformed by positive experiences as well as disheartened by the frustrations of navigating a broken system. She deeply believes that the Oula model of collaborative, evidenced-based, patient-centered care is long overdue.
When Amanda was 13, she had the unique opportunity to watch her own mother give birth to her youngest sibling, a formative experience where she realized that birth and our bodies are truly amazing. Her undergraduate studies in medical anthropology and international health cemented her path to midwifery and desire to provide culturally-competent care where people feel safe and satisfied throughout pregnancy.
Prior to Oula, Amanda worked as a midwife in private practice attending births at Mt. Sinai West Hospital and its former birth center, Morristown Hospital, Our Birthing Center in Morristown, NJ and St. Peter’s University Hospital and Birth Center. She has worked in hospital, birth center, and home birth settings. Amanda received both her Master’s in Nurse-Midwifery and Bachelor’s in Nursing from Columbia University.
