Melanie Comer, LM, CNM
Melanie Comer, CNM is a Certified Nurse Midwife with decades of experience in midwifery and perinatal care. She has experience in hospital labor and delivery units, free-standing and in-hospital birth centers, and homebirth. Building community with her patients and colleagues is a large part of what sustains her, and she prides herself on being an active listener in her clinical care and guiding her patients with a gentle touch through the unknown adventure of pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.
Melanie’s passion for working with pregnant people and expectant families is rooted in the ability to create an intimate space and build trust and personal connections despite the vulnerability of navigating our health care system.
Melanie has welcomed well over a thousand babies into this world, but through it all, she has never lost her awe in the power of the birthing person and the beauty and wonder of birth. Prior to Oula, she practiced full-scope midwifery at Morristown Medical Center, Mount Sinai West, Saint Barnabas Hospitals among others. Melanie received her MSN at the Nurse-Midwifery program at the University of Pennsylvania, her BSN from Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing in New York, and her BA from the University of Vermont.
