Melissa Banfield is a Board Certified Midwife whose path to midwifery began as a Licensed Practical Nurse and doula in her Brooklyn community. Born in the Caribbean and raised in Brooklyn, she brings a rich perspective to caring for diverse families.

Her approach to care is grounded in the belief that every person deserves the birth experience they envision. With her energetic spirit and deep compassion, Melissa creates a warm, safe environment where both patients and their families feel supported and heard.

After earning her Masters in Midwifery from SUNY Downstate, Melissa practiced at Mount Sinai South Nassau and NYU Langone. She often says she did not choose midwifery, midwifery chose her, reflecting her natural calling to this work. Her commitment to collaborative, research-backed care ensures each patient receives personalized support throughout their pregnancy journey.
